    For this year’s Homecoming, students and staff felt it was time to deliver something more unique and engaging. The arrangements for this year’s game, and the pep rally which preceded it, not only exceeded the community’s high expectations, but left its members with an incredible experience.

  • Baseball Continues Hard Work Through Summer League

    Varsity Baseball participated in the High School Developmental League (HSDL), held during summer vacation months. PV won the regular season and represented Passaic and Bergen Counties in the state tournament, where they eventually lost to Montville.

  • Inside the World of Leaps and Layouts: Gymnastics Flies in 2018

    Varsity Gymnastics has proven its potential through the great accomplishments and placings achieved so far this season, winning more meets in 2018 than all wins combined in the past 7 years. The team has already captured four wins, their highest score being an outstanding 99.75 out of 120 possible points.

  • PV Soccer Secure Top Spot in County Tournament

    The boys' Varsity Soccer team has had an astonishing run this season, accomplishing a 9-3-1 record and becoming the Big North Independence Division Champions. Taking the top seed in the County Tournament, the team will face Passaic High School this weekend at home.

  • New Student Section, The Swarm, Allows Hornets to Display PV Pride

    Students of Passaic Valley have been rallying up this year with reinvigorated school spirit and pep due to the new student section, The Swarm. Thanks to creator Sophia Ayoub '19 and wide-spread support from the community, The Swarm has flourished during these first couple of weeks of school.

  • Baseball Matches Softball's County Success

    The Hornets had an unbelievable run in the county tournament this year. Given a first round bye, the Hornets made it all the way to the County Tournament Championship, where they fell to DePaul.

  • Carlos Morales Swings His Way into Senior Season

    Spring sports are now in session and, for some athletes, it will be their last season in high school. For one senior baseball player, Carlos Morales '17, his final season is also his fourth consecutive year on the varsity squad, a rare and prestigious achievement.

  • Lady Hornets Get Passaic County Buzzing in Softball Tournament

    The Varsity Softball Team had a great regular season (11-5), earning a two-round bye going into Counties. In an impressive run, the Lady Hornets reached the championship game where they lost a heartbreaker to DePaul.

  • Cat Bennett Scores 100th Career Lax Goal

    Before May 4, 2018, only one female PV athlete had achieved her 100th career goal in lacrosse, until Catherine Bennett became the second. Bennett got her 100th goal in an away game against West Milford.

  • Softball Advances in County Tournament

    On May 3rd, the PV Softball Team played Pompton Lakes in a quarterfinal matchup in the County Tournament. In a fantastic complete game outing by Alyssa Bernardo ‘18, the team walked away with a 2-1 win, advancing them to Semifinal Round.

  • Boys Baseball Beats Lakeland and Passaic Tech in Counties

    The Hornets won their first game of the Passaic County Tournament when they defeated Lakeland Saturday, April 28 5-0. The next Saturday, the Hornets beat Passaic Tech 2-1 in the quarterfinals.

  • Baseball Hornets Take on Orlando

    Passaic Valley Baseball travelled to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, which they have done every couple of years since Varisty Coach John Mazzo started coaching at PV. The team went there to get some more work in and enjoy themselves, establishing much needed comradery on the diamond.

  • PV Lacrosse Welcomes New Varsity Coach Danziger

    This upcoming Passaic Valley Boys' Lacrosse season looks to be a promising one as the Varsity Team introduces new Head Coach Mr. Joshua Danziger. Last year's team, coached under Anthony O’Hara, finished with a record of 9-8 but showed promising potential with the now seniors leading the squad.

    PV Athletics is welcoming a new Assistant Junior Varsity Coach, Mr. Joe Feinstein, and a new Freshman Head Coach, Mr. Max Wassel, for the upcoming season. Both coaches bring a wealth of experience, stemming back to their playing years.

    Coming off a great start in Counties, where Rachel Sol '18 hit a buzzer-beater 3-pointer for a win against 8th seeded DePaul, the Varsity Girls Basketball Team competed in the second round against #1 seed Lakeland on February 10th.

  • Benvenuti Tallies 200th Win as Wrestling Head Coach

    It was a thrilling night on the mat on December 28th as the Hornets came back to win against Nutley with a final score of 45-29. However, the most thrilling story played out on the sidelines as Head Wrestling Coach Joseph Benvenuti recorded his 200th overall win.

  • Athletes in Action: Trinity Toerock Leaps into New Season as a Track Captain

    Trinity Toerock became one of the three female captains despite the 2017-18 season being only her second year. Toerock, a junior, runs distance for the Winter Track Team. Toerock joined the track team her sophomore year and made varsity; just a year later, she makes captain.

  • Passaic Valley Tops Pascack Valley in Battle of PVs

    The Passaic Valley/Cedar Grove Hornets Hockey Team's record stands at 5-6-2. But if Friday, January 5th's 5-1 victory over Pascack Valley is any indication, the team is starting to really hit their stride. Their defensive prowess and offensive versatility were on full display in the battle of the PVs at Floyd Hall.

    The PV Fencing Team is striving hard during meets in preparation for this weekend, where they will be taking on their first major tournament of the season. The girls will be competing in the Santelli Tournament on Saturday, January 13th and the boys will compete in the Cetrulo Tournament the next day.

  • Girls Field Hockey Team Ends Season with a Win at Senior Game

    On October 20th, the Varsity Field Hockey Team played in their annual Senior Game. As is tradition, the field was decorated by the underclassmen and proud parents in an effort to demonstrate their appreciation for the seniors. In this year's senior game, PV defeated Dwight Englewood in overtime 1 - 0.

    Starting on May 4th, the Passaic Valley varsity baseball team participated in the Passaic County Tournament. The first round saw the Hornets defeat rival Wayne Valley in one of the most intense games of the season.

    Creating a path for others to follow is exactly what senior Jen Sabbak '17 is doing on the lacrosse team. Sabbak has just reached a major milestone, scoring 100 goals, a mark never before reached in Girls' Lacrosse at Passaic Valley.

    Much is expected from both Girls' and Boys' lacrosse programs this year. So far, the teams have not disappointed, both defeating DePaul Catholic for the first time in school history.

  • DeNora Grapples to 8th in Wrestling State Championships

    The 2017 NJ Wrestling State Championships were held in Atlantic City over the March 3rd weekend. Student athletes wrestled in front of about 10,000 people packed into the Boardwalk Hall. PV's own Nick DeNora '17 placed 8th in the state making his coach and school incredibly proud.

  • Wrestling Team Celebrates Successful Post Season

    The wrestling team has had a phenomenal 2016-2017 postseason. After their last match as a team, the athletes moved on to compete at the District Tournament to earn a spot for Regions and then for the State Tournament. Nick Denora '17 medalled in States, earning 8th place overall.

  • Top Ten in the Big North, Ice Hockey Team Makes it to States

    At 10-9-1 and earning a spot in the top ten of the Big North Conference, the Ice Hockey Team made it to States. Catch Mr. Michael Sheehan and the Hornets Ice Hockey team vie for the Big North Bronze Cup Championship on February 17 and play their first game in States on February 20.

    The Passaic Valley wrestling team has been switched into a higher, more competitive region. PV now shares a region with one of the top teams in the state, Bergen Catholic.

    During the summer of 2015, William Edward Pinckney created a website and YouTube channel to display his interviews with famous athletes and sport commentators. He titled his website and YouTube channel, “Billy the Batboy’s Corner.”

  • Holsworth and Donovan: Co-Teaching in Class and on Court

    Passaic Valley Basketball introduces two new coaches to the Freshman and Varsity teams. This winter season Mr. James Holsworth is the new coach for the Varsity team, while Zachary Donovan coaches the Freshman team.
