Every year, students and staff members gather in the Griswald Gymnasium to watch the highly-anticipated Student vs. Staff volleyball game. This year’s game was held on Wednesday, March 27, with the Sophomore Team coming in 1st place. The friendly matches raise money to a different charity organization each year. This year we raised over $600 towards the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge Inc. (RBARI) which is an organization that cares for and shelters rescue animals.
Ms. Cheryl Grande, Advisor of the Student Senate, and Ms. Daria Leidig, Advisor of the Interact Club, organize and supervise the annual game in a collaboration between the two organizations. According to Ms. Grande, the participation this year was awesome. The sophomores took 1st place, while juniors placed a close 2nd, seniors placed 3rd, and the freshmen placed last. Although it was a competitive game, it was mostly just some good, clean fun between the students and teachers. “It’s always nice to see the students come out and support each other,” Grande exclaimed.
Isabella Nicosia'19, member of the Student Senate, explained the process of planning the event. The planning began about a month in advance. "It's a good way for PV to come together and do some good," she explained. "We always choose great organizations to donate money to every year."
Every year is always a great turnout for the Student/Staff Volleyball Game. No matter who wins, it's always a great time for players and spectators.
