This upcoming Passaic Valley Boys' Lacrosse season looks to be a promising one as the Varsity Team introduces new Head Coach Mr. Joshua Danziger. Last year's team, coached under Anthony O’Hara, finished with a record of 9-8 but showed promising potential with the now seniors leading the squad.
Coach Danziger steps into the role with a great deal of experience. “I've been coaching lacrosse for 11 years. I was the head coach for the Pequannock High School team since the program started,” he stated, “I also have been the head coach of two club teams for the NJ Thunder organization.”
With this amount of experience and the foundations created during last year's season, Coach Danziger holds higher expectations and goals for the Hornets this year. “I feel we are in the mix for a conference championship. There is a lot of unique talent on this team that other teams do not have, and I think we will give a lot of other teams matchup problems.”
The team intends to surpass 11 wins this season, which would match PV best record. Danziger feels captains Vincezo Brigati ‘18 and Daniel Lapinski ‘18 will lead the team to success. “[The captains] have done a great job so far, and I know I will only depend on them more and more as the season continues. Additionally, I think it is important that all of our seniors step up in some fashion to lead and be a part of our success.”
The students donning the White and Green look forward to what this season has to offer and are ready for the challenge. They have started the season with a 2-3 start and have a game April 10th against Nutley. The Girls' Lacrosse team is off to a 2-1 start, with their next game against Wayne Hills on April 12th.
