Softball Advances in County Tournament

Softball Hornets stretch before game; photo credit:Chris Krusberg On May 3rd, the 2nd seeded Passaic Valley Softball Team played in their Quarterfinal Round in the Passaic County Tournament against number seven Pompton Lakes. In a fantastic complete game outing by Alyssa Bernardo ‘18, the Passaic Valley Softball team walked away with a 2-1 win over Pompton Lakes, advancing them to Semifinal Round. Pompton Lakes struck first, scoring a run early on in the 2nd inning, their only run of the game. Alyssa Bernardo looked very impressive totaling 7 strikeouts and only letting up 4 hits with 1 earned run. PV Softball

Offensively, Taylor Hill ‘21 came up in the clutch with an RBI single in the 5th and an eventual run scored as well. Alex Ward ‘20 had a single and a walk in the effort while Samantha Amico ‘18 scored a run on Hill's hit.

Passaic Valley will be playing the 6th seeded Lakeland this coming Thursday, May 10th, in the Semifinal Round. On the other side of the bracket, 1st seated West Milford will be facing the 4th seated Depaul.
