This year’s eleventh annual Hey Jude concert is set to take place Friday, May 31st. Audiences can look forward to seeing bands made up of both students and teachers coming together to raise money for Saint Jude’s research hospital. All proceeds will be donated to this incredible cause and the concert promises to be enjoyable for all.Mr. Deeney and Mr. youngberg performing in Hey Jude 2018; Photo Credit: Chris Krusberg

Each year, this student led tradition, named after the famous Beatles song, brings together community rock bands to entertain audiences of all ages. The event is run by Mr. Matt Youngberg, who performs with his fellow teacher band members. However, the students who volunteer their time to this concert are the real force behind cause. “I am running Hey Jude, so to speak, because they need a teacher to be in charge but really it’s all student led,” he said. “Performing for me is my favorite part. I used to be in a band in college, so it’s fun to get back into the music.” Jake Son during his Hey Jude performance in 2017; photo credit: Chris Krusberg

Students performing also look forward to taking part in Hey Jude all year long. Jake Son’19, a performer in the past four Hey Jude concerts, shares, “I enjoy taking part in the Hey Jude performance every year. It’s always such a great experience!”

Tickets can be purchased from Mr. Deeney (room 218), Mr. Youngberg (room 249), or from the Student Senate for a reduced price of $5.00. You can also buy tickets the night of the concert at the door for $7.00.
