The Literary Club is hosting its annual poetry contest and invites students from all grade levels to submit their original writing.
The poetry contest allows students to show off their work, talents, and emotions. Student poetry will be published in Images, our literary magazine.
Poems are submitted electronically to the contest and are then read and scored by a faculty panel, usually made up of English teachers. All submissions to the contest are anonymous to the judges. The top five poems are awarded cash prizes.
Mrs. Megan Miele and Ms. Diana Swetlitschnyj, co-advisers of Literary Club, encourage all students to be a part of this annual writing competition.
“I think creative writing is something everyone should try because it’s a way to express yourself,” said Ms. Swetlitschnyj.
Mrs. Miele has a similar opinion and finds it important to look through the eyes of others. “I think it’s important to notice the talent the students have and get a different perspective on life through poetry.”
April 7th is the deadline for submissions. No submissions will be accepted after this date. Students may send in no more than two of their original poems.
If an author would like to remain anonymous in Images, he/she may state that in the email.
Images will be published in late May.
Please check back on The Valley Echo for updates on the poetry contest and Images.
